Conference report: 2nd Ion Chemistry Meeting in Krkonoše 14.06. 2011
On the weekend of May 27th to 29th, the Institute of Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry (a part of the Czech Academy of Sciences) hosted the 2nd Ion Chemistry Meeting at its chateau at Dolní Malá Úpa in beautiful Krkonoše National Park. Contributing to the workshop were about 30 scientists from eight different Czech and German research teams. Organized by Detlef Schröder (ÚOCHB, Prague) and the Czech Society for Mass Spectrometry, the workshop centered around six tutorial sessions which established a theme for the subsequent presentations. Session topics were appreciably diverse and ranged from the fundamental aspects of Titan’s atmosphere to the development of medical devices for real time chemical analysis. Highlights included a review of metal-cluster chemistry which was introduced by Sandra Lang (Universität Ulm) and a refresher on new developments in the use of new charge tags for use in electrospray ionization by Konrad Koszinowski (Universität München). The workshop also offered attendees the opportunity to explore the surrounding Krkonoše Mountains with their new scientific colleagues whilst discussing the preceding talks on Dewar benzenes and new anion complexation techniques. The atmosphere of the workshop was friendly, comfortable, and relaxing with live music provided by Ján Žabka and Juraj Jašík. The next Ion Chemistry Meeting is tentatively planned for spring 2013; in case of interest, please contact chair(at)czechms.org
2nd Ion Chemistry Meeting 16.05. 2011
At the 2nd Ion Chemistry Meeting in Dolní Malá Úpa, May 27. - 29. 5. 2011, one slot for a short oral presentation is still available. We would welcome any interested mass spectrometrist from Czech Republic at the meeting, which will take place in an informal atmosphere. You can see the current version of the scientific program with the free slot.
