14th Conference of Czech Mass Spectrometry

The 14th CSMS conference will take place from 4 to 6 November 2026 at the Faculty of Science, University of Hradec Králové. As usual, we are preparing a program full of science, space for discussions and informal networking.

Among the planned sections will be Metabolomics, Proteomics, Oligonucleotides and RNA modifications, instrumentation development and many other interesting applications of mass spectrometry. As usual, there will also be a popular block dedicated to flash talks for young scientists.

We are very pleased that the following distinguished guests have accepted the invitation for this year:

Leoš Valášek (Institute of Microbiology, Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic)

Leoš Valášek is a Czech molecular biologist and senior scientist at the Institute of Microbiology, Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic, where he has been leading research into the regulation of protein synthesis and translation since 2005. His team investigates how cells precisely determine the start and end of protein production and how this process changes during stress or in tumor cells. He is also internationally recognized, for example as a member of EMBO and Academia Europaea, and has received several important awards, including the Academic Prize of the Czech Academy of Sciences and the prestigious ERC grant.

Helen Cooper (University of Birmingham, UK)

Helen Cooper is Professor of Mass Spectrometry at the University of Birmingham and also works at the Rosalind Franklin Institute. Her research focuses on the development of native mass spectrometry under ambient conditions, i.e. methods for the in situ analysis of intact proteins and protein complexes in tissues and cells. She has received several awards for her work, including the Theophilus Redwood Award from the Royal Society of Chemistry, and is also a member of the RSC and an editor of the Journal of the American Society for Mass Spectrometry.

Hamish Stewart (Thermo Fisher Scientific, DE)

Hamish Stewart is a senior staff scientist at Thermo Fisher Scientific in Bremen, Germany, where he works on the development of future commercial mass spectrometers and new technological concepts. He is best known as the principal scientist behind the development of the Orbitrap Astral analyzer and as one of the developers of the Orbitrap instruments. He holds over 100 patents and has received awards such as The George N. Hatsopoulos Technical Innovation Award and the HUPO Science and Technology Award.

The conference fee CZK 950 (CZK 400 for students) serves also as a membership fee for CSMS members.
The conference fee for non-members is CZK 2500.
